Synthetic Oil Change 101
You may be wondering, “What is synthetic oil?” Unlike conventional oil, synthetic motor oil is both refined and distilled, making it cleaner and more flexible. Synthetic oil adapts to the needs of today’s engines with ease; our certified service team uses it to keep our Chicago customers’ Mercedes-Benz vehicles performing reliably and efficiently in the following ways:
- Cleans the engine by carrying impurities to the filter
- Keeps internal temperatures reasonable, thus protecting parts
- Promotes better performance in cold/hot weather
- Lengthens the life of the engine
When to Replace Synthetic Oil?
Determining how often to change synthetic oil is easy; Mercedes-Benz follows the Flexible Service System (FSS), which includes Service A* and Service B.* After the first 10,000 miles, or 1 year, Service A** is recommended for your vehicle and covers oil service. Service B** is completed 10,000 miles, or 1 year, later, keeping you up to date with Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement.^
