What Does PRESAFE® Do?

Sensing when an accident is about to occur, the Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® system kicks in and takes the following measures to protect vehicle occupants from harm:

• Tension is increased in the front seat belts.
• If a potential rollover is detected, the sunroof and windows close to prevent foreign objects from entering the cabin.
• The front head restraints adjust for maximum crash protection; they move to the best position for preventing passenger injuries.

Additionally, PRESAFE® works with other features like DISTRONIC PLUS® and uses the same sensors as other driver assists from Mercedes-Benz, including Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, and more!

What is Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® Sound?

Along with the traditional PRESAFE® system, select Mercedes-Benz models include PRESAFE® Sound. This extension feature also works as a pre-collision system, emitting a protective tone that will help insulate your hearing during the crash. The PRESAFE® and PRESAFE® Sound safety systems work in tandem with other Mercedes-Benz features to give you more peace of mind while enjoying drives from Oak Park to River Forest.

What is Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® Impulse Side?

Another extension of the Mercedes-Benz PRESAFE® system is PRESAFE® Impulse Side. This feature works hard to mitigate harm to cabin passengers in the event of a side impact collision in Park Ridge. The system used sensors to detect when a side collision is imminent and takes measures to minimize the harm. When preparing for impact, a chamber located in the front-seat side bolster will activate, causing rapid inflation.

The inflation process pushes the seat of the occupant toward the center of the vehicle and away from the impact zone. This process also mitigates the relative speed between the vehicle's side structure and the occupant's torso. This feature adds a high level of peace of mind to every Wilmette drive, knowing that your vehicle will keep you safe.
