Havana Day Dreaming Charity Event
Mercedes-Benz of Chicago Raises Money for North Shore Men’s Health Initiative and Havana Day Dreaming 2015
The annual North Shore Men’s Health Initiative and Havana Day Dreaming Charity Event took place in Chicago on August 2, 2015, and we at Mercedes-Benz of Chicago we’re proud to participate. Our very own Geoff Hult, Mercedes-Benz Chicago Board Director and Mercedes-Benz Service Director, was on hand to help in raising $90,000 to fund research for prostate cancer and other men’s health issues.
Fostering a Commitment to Chicago
Geoff has been a part of our team since 2002, when Fletcher Jones Group first came to Chicago. Having been involved in the automotive industry since 1997, Geoff is Master Certified in both Mercedes-Benz and Sprinter vehicles. Geoff says this is his dream job and is humbled to work with the many wonderful people in our organization and loves that it has resulted in meeting so many great people in our community. In addition to volunteering his time as a board member of the North Shore Men’s Health Initiative and Havana Day Dreaming Charity Event, Geoff enjoys attending Chicago sporting events and riding his motorcycle.
Funding Research in our Community
Started in 2003, The Havana Day Dreaming Charity Event began with four friends who decided to create their own fundraising event to support men’s health issues. Over the past twelve years the event has grown from a modest gathering of 25 men raising $2,500 to an annually sold-out dinner for 350 attendees, raising a combined total of more than $500,000 in the process.
What sets the Havana Day Dreaming Charity Event organization apart is the fact that 100% of the profits from the annual event are used to fund research. All Executive Board members volunteer their time and talents, meaning there are no administrative costs to divert fundraising dollars away from the organization’s mission. On September 3, 2015, a check for $90,000 was presented to Dr. Robert Brannigan of the Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Urology to further research in men’s health issues. Mercedes-Benz of Chicago is proud to be a sponsor of such a fine charitable organization that is making a significant difference in our community.
