2011 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class is largely unchanged following its introduction for the 2010 model year. GLK-Class is a 4-door wagon that shares its basic design with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class premium-compact car. It's available with rear-wheel drive, or the company's 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The sole model is the GLK350, with a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. Available features include a navigation system that comes with a hard drive for storing digital music files, bi-xenon headlamps, and a panoramic sunroof. Newly optional on the 2011 GLK-Class is an AMG Styling Package, which includes specific exterior trim and 20-inch wheels.
2012 C-Class
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class receives a freshening with revised styling, new engines, and new features. This premium-compact car comes as a 4-door sedan with rear- or all-wheel drive. New for 2011 is the entry-level rear-drive C250. Offered in Luxury and Sport trims, it has a new 201-horsepower turbocharged 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. C300 Luxury and C300 Sport models return with a 228-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine and standard all-wheel drive. Also returning is the rear-drive C350 Sport. While it reprises a 3.5-liter V6 engine, the 2012 model has 302 horsepower, an increase of 34 over the 2011 version. Though it has not been confirmed, we expect the high-performance C63 model to return. Tuned by Mercedes' AMG division, the C63 would likely reprise a 451-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. All C-Class cars use a 7-speed automatic transmission; the manual transmission has been discontinued. Sport models have a sport suspension and unique interior and exterior styling. Safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front- and rear-side airbags, curtain-side airbags, and a driver-knee airbag. Available features include a navigation system which includes a hard drive for storing digital-music files, bi-xenon headlamps, and 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Blind-spot alert, lane-departure warning, and rear-obstacle detection are among the newly available features of the 2012 C-Class. Also new is Mercedes' ATTENTION ASSIST driver-fatigue alert, which sounds a chime and displays a warning in the instrument cluster if sensors detect a driver who might be drowsy at the wheel.

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is largely unchanged. Four models continue in this lineup. The C300 Luxury and C300 Sport have a 228-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 that can run on E85 ethanol-blended fuel. The C350 Sport has a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6. The C63 AMG is tuned by Mercedes' performance division and has a 451-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. The C300 Sport is available with manual or automatic transmission. All other C-Class cars use a 7-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard. The C300 is also available with Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Sport models have a sport suspension and unique interior and exterior styling. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front- and rear-side airbags, curtain-side airbags, and a driver-knee airbag. Available features include a navigation system which includes a hard drive for storing digital-music files, bi-xenon headlamps, and 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Also offered are keyless entry/engine start and rearview camera. Leather upholstery is optional. A Dynamic Handling Package, which includes active suspension and specific 18-inch wheels is available on rear-drive Sport versions. An optional AMG P31 Development Package for the C63 includes a 174-mph top-speed limiter and 30 additional horsepower, bringing the total to 481. The limited-slip differential that was previously included in the P31 package is now a standalone option.

An AMG Performance Package for the CLS63 includes a performance suspension, increased top-speed limiter, and a power boost to 550 horsepower.

Updated exterior trim, steering-wheel shift paddles, and AMG-inspired 18-inch wheels are newly standard on the CLS550. These items were previously optional as part of the AMG Sport Package. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front- and rear-side airbags. Standard is a full-length center console and twin bucket-type rear seats, a navigation system, and wireless cell-phone link. Options include front- and rear-obstacle detection, adaptive cruise control, and heated and ventilated front seats.

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Class lineup gains a new diesel model. One of this premium-large car's high-performance models gets a new engine for 2011. The S-Class roster includes the S550, S600, gas/electric S400 Hybrid, and new-for-2011 S350 BlueTEC diesel. Also offered are the high-performance S63 and S65, which are tuned by Mercedes' AMG performance division. S550 uses a 382-horsepower 5.5-liter V8 engine. The high-end S600 reprises a turbocharged 510-horsepower 5.5-liter V12. S63 offers a new turbocharged 536-horsepower 5.5-liter V8, which replaces a 518-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. The S65 has a 6.0-liter turbocharged V12 with 621 horsepower, an increase of 17 over the 2010 model. The new S350 BlueTEC has a 241-horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. The S350 and all V8 S-Class cars have a 7-speed automatic transmission, while V12 versions use a 5-speed automatic. The S400 Hybrid pairs a 3.5-liter V6 gas engine with a battery-powered electric motor for 295 horsepower total. It uses a 7-speed automatic transmission. The S400's hybrid system is capable of shutting off the engine while slowing down and at a stop, but the car cannot accelerate solely on electric power. It does not require plug-in charging. S350 has standard all-wheel drive. The S550 is available with rear-wheel drive or AWD. All other S-Class cars are rear drive. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front- and rear-side airbags. Mercedes' Pre-Safe system is standard; it senses an impending collision and tightens the seat belts and applies additional braking force. New is Mercedes' ATTENTION ASSIST driver-fatigue alert, which sounds a chime and displays a warning in the instrument cluster if sensors detect a driver who might be drowsy at the wheel. The driver can view navigation, audio, or other information, and the front passenger can watch a movie using included wireless headphones
2011 CL-Class
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class gets freshened styling, and some models are available with new engines. This 2-door coupe shares its basic design with the 4-door Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The CL550 has a new 429-horsepower turbocharged 4.7-liter V8 engine, which replaces a 382-horsepower 5.5-liter V8. The CL63, tuned by Mercedes' AMG performance division, has a new 536-horsepower turbocharged 5.5-liter V8, which replaces a 518-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. The high-end CL600 is largely unchanged; it uses a 510-horsepower 5.5-liter V12. Also from AMG, the top-line CL65 has a 621-horsepower turbocharged 6.0-liter V12. This is an increase of 17 horsepower over the 2010 CL65. CL550s have standard all-wheel drive, and all other CL-Class models have rear-wheel drive. V8 CL-Class models have a 7-speed automatic transmission. V12 versions have a 5-speed automatic. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front- and rear-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. CL-Class has a standard navigation system, wireless cell-phone link, and adaptive headlights. Newly standard on all models are a night-vision-camera system, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot alert. 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup expands with the addition of a diesel sedan, as well as new convertible and station wagon body styles. The 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe versions of Mercedes' premium-midsize car see no major changes. Reprising their roles are the V6-powered E350 and V8-powered E550. Also offered is the high-performance E63 sedan, which is tuned by Mercedes' AMG performance arm. New for 2011 is the turbodiesel E350 BlueTEC sedan. The coupe and convertible come only as the E350 and E550. Gas E350s have a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, E550s a 382-horsepower 5.5-liter V8, and the E63 a 518-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. The E350 BlueTEC has a 210-horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. A 7-speed automatic transmission is standard on all E-Class models. All coupe, sedan, and convertible models have rear-wheel drive. E350 and E550 sedans offer Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The station wagon is AWD only and has the gasoline V6 engine. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, front-side airbags, rear-side airbags, hip-protecting side airbags, and a driver-knee airbag. Mercedes' driver-adjustable air suspension is standard on the E550 sedan. Available features on the E-Class include adaptive high-beam headlights, which use a camera designed to recognize oncoming traffic and adjusts lamp intensity between low and high beams. Also available are a night-vision system and Mercedes' active multi-contour seats with massage function. Other options available on most models include a navigation system, rearview camera, electronic trunk closer, keyless access and engine start, and adaptive cruise control. The sedan's optional Sport Package includes specific wheels and trim. The convertibles are available with Mercedes' AIRSCARF, which blows warm air across the necks of front-seat occupants. Making its debut on the E-Class Cabriolet is a feature that Mercedes calls AIRCAP. It consists of two parts: A 2.4-inch-deep net built into the windshield frame as well as a draft-stop between the rear seats. They're designed to work together to reduce wind buffeting in the cabin.
2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is the first vehicle wholly designed and built by this German automaker's performance arm. This 2-passenger coupe uses a pair of "gullwing" doors, reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz coupes of the 1950s. The sole powertrain teams a 563-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, side airbags, curtain-side airbags, and driver- and passenger-knee airbags. Among the standard features are keyless access/engine start, leather upholstery, a voice-activated navigation system, and a hard drive for storing digital-music files. Optional features include a performance suspension, carbon-ceramic disc brakes, carbon-fiber interior trim, and an uplevel Bang & Olufsen audio system.
