Mercedes-Benz Reaches Out to the Community

As far as Mercedes-Benz is concerned, crafting top-of-the-line vehicles is only the beginning of their success story. Not only do they care about their customers, but their employees, dealerships, and local community members, as well. They've been active in the communities they effect for nearly as long as they've been building cars - that's over 100 years of going good for the people who support them. As they explain, "In the end, what you get out of life is equal to what you put into it - and we're committed to putting in as much as possible."1

Let's start where the every new Mercedes-Benz model starts, at the manufacturing site. The German automakers has investing a lot of time, energy and money into ensuring that the vehicles and manufacturing processes make the smallest environmental impact as possible.

Then, this year, to commemorate 125 years of vehicle excellence, they celebrated with 125 Acts of Giving Back. Some of these good deeds included:

-Cookies for Cancer: bake sales to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
-Family Reach Foundation: Supports services for families battling pediatric illnesses and the financial burden that comes along with these types of illnesses.
-Stuff the Bus: In the Southern United States, dealerships stuffed school supplies in local school buses which delivered the supplies to kids in need.
-Safe Driving Presentations: Mercedes-Benz knows that the safest driver is an educated one, which is why they travel to area high school to teach safe driving habits.
-Anti-Defamation League Benefit: The automaker is proud to sponsor the organization's Chicago based Envision event for the fourth year in a row. Nearly 700 young professionals attended this annual celebration of equality and freedom in 2011.

And of course, there's the Community Stars initiative, in which five local charities each received $25,000 to further their causes. Facebook fans helped choose the best of the best, narrowing the field from hundreds just to five.

And that was just in 2011! 2012 is off to a good start, so be sure to stay tuned with Mercedes-Benz of Chicago to learn more about all of the community efforts your Chicago area Mercedes-Benz dealership is making, along with the company as a whole.
